Not only participating in funding the program organization, BIDV also accompanies the Red Journey on activities including: coordinating the organization; propagating to the public, customers, partners and all employees through its network of over 1000 transaction points nationwide. In addition, thousands of BIDV officers in localities have directly participated in blood donation; mobilizing relatives, customers, partners to participate in blood donation activities. Every BIDV employee participating in the program wishes to share drops of valuable blood to bring new lives to others.
In addition to voluntary blood donation activities, over the past years, BIDV has implemented many social security programs in various fields. The bank has sponsored the purchase of medical equipment, ambulance for hospitals, clinics, congenital heart surgery for children, eye exams for the elderly; building houses for the poor, funding the construction of many new schools, hundreds of standard classrooms for people in remote areas, donating computers, equipment, software, etc.
The Red Journey, a voluntary blood donation program, has been organized by the National Institute Of Hematology and Blood Transfusion since 2013. The program has contributed to raising the awareness of people nationwide about voluntary blood donation; about the benefits and humanitarian significance of donating voluntary blood for medical examination and treatment; and about thalassemia disease.
To date, 50 provinces, cities have participated in the Red Journey with the total 600,000 units of blood being donated, contributing valuable blood to the national blood store. As for the Red Journey 2019, the program had collected a total of 103,089 units of blood, much exceeding the set goal.
The Red Journey 2020 is expected to give consultation directly to about 500,000 people on voluntary blood donation and thalassemia disease; and expected to receive a minimum of about 80,000 units of blood.
