Positive results of the 2015-2020 term

Speaking at the event, Mr. Phan Duc Tu, Chairman of the Board of BIDV addressed how challenging the 2015-2020 period was to BIDV’s Party and system, yet the bank was able to achieve the targets set by the Party, the Government, the Party Committee for Central Business Bloc and the State Bank of Vietnam, showing its spirit, solidarity, corporate culture, and resilience, thus creating a foundation and momentum for the next period.

During the past term, the Party organization of BIDV has focused on the implementation of the Resolution of the 13th Party Congress and the restructuring plan period 2016-2020, and successfully completed two missions. One of them is the party-building process, which has been innovated and received consensus system-wide. The other is the completion of its political tasks including its Restructuring project of 2016-2020 period; the share issuance to raise charter capital, which was also the largest M&A deal in the history of Vietnam's banking industry, making BIDV the largest Vietnamese bank by charter capital; sustainable business results; customer structure shifting; the structure of assets and portfolio of profitable assets; institutional development and governance model renovation; human resource development; etc.

The bank’s achievements has resulted in First-class Labour Medal from the Party and State of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, First-class Independence Order from the Party and State of Lao People's Democratic Republic, Royal Order of Monisaraphon - Moha Sereivath class from the King of Cambodia, and many honours and awards, along with the appreciation from international and domestic financial institutions, customers, partners and the society.

Striving and contributing to the development of the country

Speaking at the event, Mr. Y Thanh Ha Nie Kdam - Alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee for Central Business Block, recognized and praised the positive results of BIDV. Mr. Y Thanh Ha Nie Kdam stressed that BIDV should continue its party-building process innovation, improve the comprehensive leadership capacity of the Party organization, reform the Party's leadership to meet development requirements in the new period, thus successfully complete the key targets of the 2020-2025 term.

The Party Congress identified that the period 2020 – 2025 would be a tough time, which would bring both opportunities and challenges and pose many new problems, meaning new and complex requirements, to the Party organization.  For the financial and banking sector, in the period 2020 - 2025, the banking industry will have to strongly restructure and capture 5 main trends in the context of industrial revolution 4.0 and post Covid-19: (i) Digital banking development; (ii) Competition between commercial banks and Fintech, Bigtech; (iii) Meeting Basel II and III; (iv) Deepening integration; and (v) Green finance.

The congress also elected the Executive Committee of BIDV Party Committee for the term 2020 - 2025 including 35 members; and the Standing Committee of Party Committee including 11 members. Mr. Phan Duc Tu - Secretary of the BIDV Party Committee for the term 2015-2020, Chairman of the Board of BIDV - was elected as Secretary of the Party Committee of BIDV for the term 2020 - 2025. 10 official delegates and 03 alternate delegates were elected to attend the third congress of the Party Committee for Central Business Bloc.

With the spirit of "Solidarity - Discipline - Responsibility - Innovation - Development", the success of BIDV’s Party Congress for the 2020 - 2025 term will create a direction for the bank’s further development, contributing to the successful implementation of the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress.
