On 20 January 2019, the Vietnamese national football team put up a brave fight and beat Jordan persuasively during the 2019 AFC Asian Cup Round of 16, becoming the first team to reach the quarter-finals.

To encourage and motivate the football team, the Trade Union of the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) awarded VND1 billion to the team.
