The Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) has received the award "Best Retail Bank in Vietnam" for the fifth consecutive year by The Asian Banker for its outstanding results in retail banking activities.

The award ceremony tool place within the framework of “Embracing disruption and preparing for the future” conference held in Dubai on 21 March 2019.

The annual “Embracing disruption and preparing for the future” conference is designed for senior executives from retail banks and financial institutions of more than 25 countries throughout the Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa. This year, the convention focused on solutions to significant challenges in the financial services and retail banking sector, with the aim of staying ahead of the trend and preparing for the future.

The award "Best Retail Bank in Vietnam" is a part of the Asian Banker Vietnam Country Awards 2019. The Asian Banker evaluates more than 300 banks and non-banking retail financial institutions in more than 42 countries to reward annually.

Earlier on 10 January 2019 in Hanoi, The Asian Banker held an award ceremony for organizations with outstanding achievements in retail financial services in Vietnam, honoring BIDV as the only bank to be awarded the title "Best Retail Bank in Vietnam 2019". Receiving the award for the fifth consecutive year, BIDV has affirmed its continuous efforts in leading the technology trend and providing modern customer-friendly products.

In 2018, BIDV pioneered in applying the Industry 4.0 and paying great attention to boost its modern distribution channels. The bank offers high-tech products and services to meet the diverse needs of individual customers. Particularly, BIDV SmartBanking features virtual assistant, QR Pay, and online currency trading; while BIDV Pay+ allows customers to withdraw money at ATMs without cards as well as making convenient payment via QR Code and Samsung Pay.

BIDV has increased customer interaction through its 24/7 Contact Centre and Social Medial Command Centre. With the new friendly website interface launched on the first day of the New Year 2019, customer experience on mobile devices will be much improved. Recently, on 15 March 2019, BIDV’s Digital Banking Center has officially been established to gain the first mover advantage in exploiting the digitalization potential in banking activities.

To date, the Vietnamese lender has launched over 100 products and services for individual customers including: deposits, credits, cards, money transfers, e-banking, bill payment and insurance. In 2018, the bank further developed retail products and services, upgraded its e-banking and added more friendly features to BIDV SmartBanking, BIDV Online and card products.

BIDV is also the first and only bank in Vietnam to receive the "Outstanding Retail Bank in Vietnam” award for three consecutive years (2016, 2017 & 2018) from Vietnam Banks Association in collaboration with International Data Group, “Best Payment Merchant Service” award from The Asian Banker for BIDV Pay+; Top 10 brands to win “Trust and Use” award 2018 and Top 100 products to win “Trust and Use” award 2018 for BIDV SmartBanking from VnEconomy. BIDV also received “Best Contact Centre of the Year” and “Best in-house Contact Centre 2018” awards from the Contact Centre Association of Singapore and Contact Centre Association of Vietnam.
