Red Journey is a cross-country campaign initiated by the National Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation and the National Institute of Haematology and Blood Transfusion, cooperating with Nhan Ai Vong Tay Viet JSC this year. Starting in 2013, it aims to raise public awareness of blood donation and Thalassaemia, and to address the shortage of blood for medical use, especially during summer.

The Red Journey 2019 was officially launched  from 11 June to 28 July 2019, with the participation of 39 provinces and cities nationwide; started from Ca Mau (on 12 June) and ended in Hanoi (on 28 July). Five provinces including Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Lam Dong, Nghe An and Thanh Hoa have participated in "Red Journey" campaign annually since 2013. This year, Dak Nong, Hung Yen, Nam Dinh, Lao Cai and Lai Chau joined this event for the first time.

There were 120 key volunteers and about 15,000 local volunteers participated throughout the journey. In 2019, the campaign collected 102,149 blood units nationwide.

During 6 years taking part in the campaign, thousands of BIDV employees nationwide have volunteered to donate blood and promoted their customers and business partners to participate in this charity program.

Over the past years, along with the Red Journey Blood Donation Campaign, BIDV has also implemented many other charity programs such as: sponsoring health stations, examination equipment, medical treatment and ambulance for hospitals; sponsoring surgery for congenital heart defects for children, eye exams for the elderly; building houses and schools for people in remote areas, etc.
