After launching the “Water for a green life” program 2020, BIDV proactively used VND23.03 billion from its fund to buy 13,300 water tanks and 39 water filters to donate to people in 5 Mekong Delta provinces severely hit by the drought and saltwater intrusion.

The "Water for a green life" 2020 program, launched from 26 April 2020 to 12 May 2020, is aimed at connecting millions of customers to join hands to support the people in the Mekong Delta provinces who are severely affected by the drought and saltwater intrusion. Accordingly, for each money transfer conducted via BIDV SmartBanking, BIDV deducted VND5,000 as donation for buying water tanks and water filters for the disadvantaged people.

From 6 to 10 May 2020, BIDV organized programs to present water tanks and water filters to the 5 provinces of Ca Mau, Kien Giang, Ben Tre, Tien Giang and Long An, which are severely affected by the drought and saltwater intrusion. Quyen Linh, an actor and TV presenter, joined BIDV’s program.

On 6 May 2020 in Ca Mau province, BIDV announced the donation of 2,000 water tanks worth VND3 billion to the people in Ca Mau city, Ngoc Hien, Phu Tan, Dam Doi, Tran Van Thoi and Nam Can districts.

On 7 May 2020, in Kien Giang province, BIDV donated 3,300 water tanks totaling VND5 billion to the people in An Bien district, a remote and disadvantaged area.

On 8 May 2020, in Ben Tre province, BIDV presented 4,700 water tanks and 5 water filters with a capacity of 10,000 liters per day, totaling VND5.2 billion.

On 9 May 2020, in Tien Giang province, BIDV announced the donation of 3,300 water tanks totaling VND5 billion to the people in the districts of Go Cong Dong, Go Cong Tay and Tan Phu Dong.

On 10 May 2020, in Long An province, BIDV presented 34 water filters with a capacity of 10,000 liters per day for 34 residential areas/communes totaling VND4.93 billion in Can Duoc, Can Giuoc, Tan Tru and Chau Thanh districts.

Attending the presentation ceremonies were representatives of provinces, provincial Fatherland Front Committees, the State Bank branches in the provinces, districts, communes, local beneficiaries as well as leaders of BIDV branches. BIDV expects 13,300 households will receive water tanks and about 39,000 people at 39 residential areas will have access to fresh water from the water filters sponsored by BIDV.

Mr. Le Ngoc Lam, Senior Executive Vice President in charge of the Board of Management, BIDV said: "All the water filters and water tanks will be awarded to localities and disadvantaged households soonest. People will have the necessary tools to store clean water for their daily life needs, overcome difficulties caused by annual natural disasters, drought and saltwater intrusion. BIDV would like to express sincere thanks to millions of customers for their support for the “Water for a green life” 2020 program, contributing to sharing difficulties with the people affected by the natural disaster as well as the Covid-19”.

Previously on the occasion of Vietnam’s Lunar New Year 2020, through the running event “Warm Tet for the poor" participated by 36,500 athletes, BIDV deducted VND20 billion from the bank's fund for donating Tet gifts to the poor across the country.
